This is the story of Luís Daniel Brito, also known as japa. So wellcome to my aka homeland. @vulgojapa_ An integrated communication and marketing professional and integrated father. Graduated in advertising, with a MBA from Fundação Getulio Vargas and a pair of slanted eyes, @vulgojapa_ began his career two decades ago as a creative assistant at FCB Brasil. After a stint at FCB's headquarters in Chicago, the copywriter returned to Rio when ESPM invited him to open a unit of the world-renowned Miami AdSchool.
As an academic coordinator and teacher, he started an inclusive social program and made the subsidiary a global benchmark. Meanwhile, he rose through the ranks to become Creative Director, working on global accounts like Nike, Mondelez and SC Johnson. At the same time, @vulgojapa_ won the Amplification Contest, a Radio Media Grand Prix which qualified him to represent Rio at the Cannes Festival. Under Washington Olivetto's leadership, he was ACD for TIM at W/McCann. Two years later, he joined the DPZ&T team, where his achievements included a nomination for the TV Globo PPA and the Effies for the anti-corruption Car Wash Operation Campaign for Petrobras. At Rede Globo, @vulgojapa_ expanded his view by working with digital products, openings and branded content actions for soap operas, shows and series. After the season at TV, he was part of Africa DDB. There, a new national case: BR "Posto, posto!", which was named Top of Mind by Folha de São Paulo, surpassing Ipiranga for the first time. In 2021, the creative became Head of Marketing at PRIO, Latin America's largest independent O&G company. In this new role, he led all marketing area: advertising, PR, branding, sponsorship and live. The I ❤️ PRIO ESG platform became a legacy for the city. The PRIO Paralympic Campaign was highly decorated, winning 2xGOLDS and 1xBRONZE awards at the Brazilian Creative Club, 1xGOLD at the Brazil Design, 2xGOLD at LADS and a 1xCRAFT Merit at the Cannes Festival. The PRIO Paralympic Team went on to secure 5xGOLDS and 1xSILVER Medal at the PARIS 2024 Paralympic Games. For this exceptional work, Daniel was named Advertising Professional of the Year in RJ.
In less than two years at Energisa Group, he and his team celebrated the 120 years with a huge campaing who took the company to Reptrak's first place. Energisa was also recognized as the most innovative brand in the Brazilian Electricity Sector and the fifth most innovative overall by Valor Econômico. And they still won the Effie Awards. A dedicated advocate for the communication industry, @vulgojapa_ is a former member of the Brazilian Advertising Association board (ABP) and former president of the Rio de Janeiro Creative Club. Last but not least: @vulgojapa_ is not japonese. (EU citizenship) IED post graduation professor.
