In Brazil, the term "vulgo" means the one who is known by his nickname, the famous "also known as" (A.K.A). This is the case of Daniel Paulos-Brito or (vulgo_japa). An integrated communication professional and integrated father, Daniel was raised in the suburbs of Rio de Janeiro. With a bachelor's degree in advertising, a MBA from Fundação Getulio Vargas and a pair of slanted eyes, (vulgo_japa) began his career two decades ago as an advertising copywriter at FCB Brasil. Over the decade, he rose through the ranks to become Creative Director, working on global accounts like Nike, Nivea, Mondelez and SC Johnson. After a stint at FCB's Chicago office, Daniel returned to FCB in Rio, and was invited to lead a new unit of Miami AdSchool. As academic coordinator, he launched an inclusive social program and transformed the subsidiary into a global benchmark, coaching countless creative talents for leading ad agencies. At the same time, Japa won the Amplification Contest – a Radio Media Grand Prix – which qualified him to represent Rio at the Cannes Festival. Under Washington Olivetto's leadership at W/McCann, he was ACD for TIM. Two years later, he joined the DPZ&T team. His achievements included a nomination for TV Globo PPA and two Effies for the anti-corruption Car Wash Operation Campaign for Petrobras. At Rede Globo, Daniel expanded his view working with digital products, openings and branded content for soap operas, TV shows and series. At Africa DDB, a new national case: BR "Posto, posto!" which was Top of Mind by Folha de São Paulo, surpassing Ipiranga for the first time. In 2021, the Creative Director became Head of Marketing at Petrorio, Brazil's largest independent petroleum company. In this new role, he led the company's to a next level of Branding, PR, Sponsorship, Digital MKT and live events. The PRIO Paralympic team captured five golds and one silver medal at Paris 2024. The PRIO Paralympic Project won two golds and one bronze star at the Brazilian Creative Club. For this initiative, Daniel was named Advertising Professional of the Year in RJ. Throughout his career, this copywriter has been a prolific award-winner, earning accolades such as Clio Awards, Cannes Lions, The One Show, FIAP, CCSP, Lürzer's Archive, El Ojo, Waves Latam, Promaxx, London, and NY Festivals. He has also served as a juror for prestigious awards like AME Awards, Wired, NY Festivals and Ad Stars in South Korea. A dedicated advocate for the communication industry, Daniel is a former member of the Brazilian Advertising Association board (ABP) and former president of the Rio de Janeiro Creative Club. A native of Rio de Janeiro, he also holds European Union citizenship.
